Monmouth Winds, Concert Band to perform Feb. 26

Two Monmouth College instrumental ensembles will present a free concert on Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Kasch Performance Hall of the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.

The Monmouth Winds will perform Gustav Holst’s “Second Suit in F for Military Band,” a Paul Lavender arrangement of “Lord of The Rings,” Johannes Hanssen’s “Valdres” and “Prelude On An American Spiritual,” arranged by Carl Strommen.

A 40-member ensemble for the serious musician, the Monmouth Winds is open only by audition. Its director is Erin Alderson.

The Concert Band will perform “Rejouissance” by James Curnow, “Old Churches” by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Michael Colgrass and “Nobles of the Mystic Shrine: by John Philip Sousa.

Directed by Matt Wanken, the Concert Band is open to all students, without an audition. It is designed for students who want to continue to be in a band, but prefer not to make the time commitment required to be in the Monmouth Winds.
