A strong early season showing has the Monmouth College men’s club water polo team ranked second in the nation, according to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).

The team began the season with a 1-1 record at a triangular hosted by the University of Notre Dame on Sept. 15. The Crab People got four goals from Raheem Brown en route to a 12-9 victory over Notre Dame's club team. Monmouth jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and kept at least a two-goal lead the rest of the way as goalkeepers Marshall Palfenier and Alex Hernandez combined for 15 saves. Gabe Baginski, Cameron Weber and Josh Dunn added two goals each.

The Crab People suffered their only loss of the season in the triangular’s other match. Indiana University tripped up Monmouth 9-4 in a match that was tied at halftime.

Monmouth (5-1, 4-0 in league play) will host its regular season conference tournament this Saturday and Sunday at the Pepper Natatorium.
