Bloomer to speak at Associates

Barry McNamara
Steve Bloomer, a senior development officer at Monmouth College, will address the final Monmouth Associates gathering of the academic year on May 20 at noon in the Main Dining Room of the college’s Stockdale Center.

Entitled “Applied Leadership,” Bloomer’s talk will be especially geared to members of the 2010 West Central Leadership graduating class, who will receive their diplomas at the luncheon. The annual program trains residents of Warren and Henderson counties about western Illinois, its people and the leadership skills necessary to help in economic and community revitalization efforts. Graduating are: Dori Anderson, Teresa Cabrera, Connie Hill, Jerry Kinney, Bryn Lawrence, Carol Ricketts, Jodi Scott, Amy Toal and Nicole Trego.

A 1983 graduate of Monmouth College, Bloomer served for more than 27 years in the National Guard, where he was employed 22 years and rose to the rank of colonel. From 2004 to 2007, he was the chief of staff for the Iowa Army National Guard, where he managed more than 1,000 full-time employees.

Bloomer, who joined MC’s development staff in 2007, earned a master’s degree in strategic studies from the United States Army War College and American Military University.
