MC's Angotti to speak about King

MONMOUTH, Ill. -- Joe Angotti, distinguished visiting professor of communication at Monmouth College, will be the featured speaker Jan. 19 at a campus event celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr.

Titled “Remembering MLK: Then and Now, a News Reporter’s Perspective,” Angotti’s talk will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room in the Stockdale Center. He will reflect on his experiences covering King as a young reporter in Louisville, Ky., and as a network producer in Chicago.

An Emmy Award-winning veteran of 22 years in network broadcast news, Angotti is the former senior vice president of NBC News and former executive producer of NBC Nightly News. During his years at the network, Angotti supervised coverage of many historical events, including the signing of the Camp David Peace Accord, the Watergate hearings, the launching of the early space shuttles and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
