Paintings by Beloit faculty member to go on exhibit at MC

An exhibit of paintings by Beloit College faculty member Tom Berenz will be on display Jan. 18 through Feb. 15 in Monmouth College’s Everett Gallery.
A reception and a talk are scheduled for Jan. 18 in the gallery. The reception will begin at 3 p.m., with the artist set to discuss his exhibit at 3:15 p.m.
The paintings that Berenz will display at Monmouth are not the only ones he currently has on exhibit. His work is also part of the “Escape Velocity” exhibit at the Mirus Gallery in San Francisco.
“Tom Berenz rounds out the strong push to color in his paintings that play between two- and three-dimensional space as he creates balanced, yet disjointed compositions,” wrote a reviewer about his recent “Velvet Hammer” exhibit in Chicago.
Berenz most recently studied at the University of Wisconsin, receiving his MFA last year. He also holds a master’s degree in painting from Northern Illinois University and a BFA in graphic communications and painting from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Located in Hewes Library, the gallery is open Mondays through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. ¬– midnight; Fridays, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sundays, noon – midnight.
