MC's Bell to speak about leadership at Associates

Monmouth College football coach Steve Bell will address the final Monmouth Associates luncheon of the academic year on May 16 at noon in the Main Dining Room of the college’s Stockdale Center.
Bell’s remarks will be especially targeted to members of the 2012 West Central Leadership graduating class, who will receive their diplomas at the event. The annual program teaches residents of Warren and Henderson counties about western Illinois, its people and the leadership skills necessary to help bring about economic and community revitalization.
Graduating will be: Kathryn Bell of the Warren County United Way; Michelle Carlson, Wendy Downing, Marnie Dugan and Nicole Olin of Monmouth College; Andrea Martin of the City of Monmouth; Erin Noon of the Hederson-Mercer-Warren Regional Office of Education; Carissa Scott of the American Red Cross; Laura Stahl of the Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce; Hank Shimmin of Community National Bank; and Tia Taylor of Hospice Compassus.
The first game that Monmouth wins this fall will be Bell’s 100th coaching victory at Monmouth. Included in those victories are Monmouth’s only postseason wins, which came during the 2008 and 2011 seasons. The 2008 team led the nation in scoring and was ranked as high as eighth in the national polls. In all, Monmouth has reached the NCAA playoffs four times under Bell, who has a .727 winning percentage.
The program is free; an optional buffet lunch costs $10. Reservations can be made by calling 309-457-2316 or by e-mail at
A free shuttle van transports passengers from two locations to every Associates luncheon. The van will stop at the Faith United Presbyterian Church parking lot at 11:45 a.m. and at the northeast quadrant of the Public Square at approximately 11:50 a.m. It will return to both locations immediately following the program. Shuttle reservations should be made by calling the above number.
