Timmerman on leadership

David Timmerman, dean of the faculty at Monmouth College, will address the final Monmouth Associates gathering of the academic year on May 19 at noon in the Main Dining Room of the college’s Stockdale Center.

Timmerman’s remarks will be especially targeted to members of the 2011 West Central Leadership graduating class, who will receive their diplomas at the luncheon. The annual program teaches residents of Warren and Henderson counties about western Illinois, its people and the leadership skills necessary to help bring about economic and community revitalization. Graduating will be: Angela Torrance of Biggsville; Tabitha Jozwick, Amye Bean and Blake Rappenecker of Galesburg; Rachel Gibson of Little York; and Claire Chalifoux, Casey Rexroat, Cathy Stiles and John White of Monmouth

Timmerman is completing his first year as a member of the college’s administrative staff. Previously, he was a professor of rhetoric and chair of the division of humanities and fine arts at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind. During his 16-year career at Wabash, he was the recipient of the college’s outstanding teaching award.

A free shuttle van transports passengers from two locations to every Associates luncheon. The van will stop at the Faith United Presbyterian Church parking lot at 11:45 a.m. and at the northeast quadrant of the Public Square at approximately 11:50 a.m. It will return to both locations immediately following the program.
