Canadian R&B sensation Sean Jones will take concertgoers on a nostalgic journey to Motown and beyond when he is featured during the Maple Leaf Community Concert Series on Oct. 16 at 2:30 p.m. (NOT 1:30 p.m.) at Monmouth College’s Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.

MLCCS season tickets are $60 for adults and $25 for individual concerts. Admission is free for all Monmouth College students, faculty and staff who present a college ID.

Jones began singing in high school and soon joined the R&B group “In Essence,” garnering two hit singles (You’ll Never Find” and “Friend of Mine”), the 2003 Much Music Video of the Year Award and the 2002 Juno Award for R&B Recording of the Year.

Since that time, Jones has pursued a solo career, devoting himself to classic romantic songs in his “captivating” and “genuinely soulful” style. He went on a national performing tour after releasing “This is Love” in 2008, and his first full-length album is currently in progress.

Off stage, Jones is the official spokesman for Canadian-based AKW Charities, providing education and skill development for special needs children in Afghanistan. A video of Jones is available at
