Open house, Midwest Scholars Day

Barry McNamara
The Monmouth College office of admission will host an open house for prospective students on March 26. The event will coincide with the college’s first-ever Midwest Scholars Day.

Prospective students will have the opportunity to meet with students, faculty and coaches and will be led on guided tours of the Monmouth College campus. Visitors will also be able to attend sessions where they can learn more about the admission and financial aid process.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium and will continue through 10:15 a.m., when a welcome session will be held in the chapel. Prospective students will be treated to a lunch in the Stockdale Center, and the rest of their day will include tours and informational sessions.

Also invited to campus on March 26 are Midwest Scholars finalists. This is the first year that Monmouth College is offering $25,000 Midwest Scholars Awards, which essentially cover the cost of tuition for the recipients. Because the award is renewable for up to three additional years, it could actually be worth a total of $100,000 to each recipient, provided a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is maintained.

Midwest Scholars Day activities will include group discussions, a campus tour and presentations on various academic disciplines. Candidates will share their reactions to ideas presented during personal interviews with a select group of faculty members and alumni who are leaders in their field. Winners will be selected based on application materials, past achievements and performance on Midwest Scholars Day. They will be announced April 15.
