BARRY McNAMARA became head coach in 2003 and immediately brought new life to the women's program. The Fighting Scots have qualified for the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament twice under McNamara's leadership. The 2005 squad set the program record for wins and became the first Fighting Scots' women's soccer team to qualify for the league tournament. McNamara's 66 career wins and .532 winning percentage are both high-water marks at Monmouth.

Assistant Coach: Dick Johnston, 7th year

What the players say: My experience with soccer here at Monmouth was the best experience I had during college. If I hadn’t decided to play soccer here, I wouldn’t have met my best friends. I always looked forward to soccer season for many different reasons; I love the sport, the girls are great, good coaches, great memories, hotel away trips, and last but not least, the best soccer field in the conference! Years from now when I look back at my college experience, the one thing that will always stick out in my mind will be my memories of soccer. I couldn’t have asked for a better four years.”

What the parents say: “(Our daughter) put on the uniform for four years and gave all she had at Monmouth. Honestly, my wife and I believed she would do that. What we did not know is what Monmouth would give to her. We now know … from the soccer field, to the classroom and laboratory, to the lifelong friendships and experiences, Monmouth has enriched her life forever.”

“Thank you for making (our daughter’s) four years wonderful ones. Her soccer team has been her sorority.”
