MELISSA BITTNER, the 2011-12 Midwest Conference Coach of the Year and a 2003 Monmouth College graduate, brings a high level of energy and passion for the game to the program. Bittner finished her career as the school’s third-leading scorer with 1,318 points and was a four-time All-Midwest Conference selection on the hardcourt. Also a member of the Scots’ volleyball and track teams, Bittner was named all-conference an amazing 15 times out of a possible 16 athletic seasons. Her All-American career was completed in style with her selection as Illinois’ NCAA Woman of the Year winner in 2003. She was also a top 10 finalist for the national award. Bittner has steadily built the Scots into a conference contender. The 2010-11 squad finished second in the league tournament after qualifying for the postseason for only the second time in program history. The team also tied the school record for wins.
