Fighting Scots Society

If you've followed Monmouth College athletics recently, you know that the varsity track, football, and club water polo teams have all experienced success at the national level. The track teams have two top-three national finishes, the football team has made the NCAA playoffs two out of the last three years (2009 and 2010, respectively) and was ranked in the top 10 for the first time in school history, and the men’s water polo team has placed in the top 8 in the nation for each of the last three years, finishing second in 2010. These accomplishments have played a large role in increasing Monmouth’s national visibility.

Today, nearly 500 Monmouth students are active in varsity athletics, while many more participate in club sports, intramurals and physical activities such as cheerleading and dance squad.

Thanks to a strong commitment by the board of trustees and the generosity of major donors, these athletes enjoy training, practice and game facilities that are among the finest in the nation for a Division III college. Such advantages have helped the men’s teams to win the conference All-Sports title each of the past five years, while the women’s teams had their highest finish ever last year.

Enthusiasm for Fighting Scots athletics is on the rise. A 100-member marching band now joins the pipe band in thrilling the crowd at football games. A lively new mascot named Big Red made its debut last fall. Four major pre-season polls ranked the football team in the top 20.

To continue building this momentum, while providing an opportunity for greater involvement by alumni, parents, friends and fans, we have created The Fighting Scots Society. By donating to Monmouth athletics, you can become a proud member. More important, you will help Monmouth’s student athletes excel by funding travel, uniforms, equipment, training and rehab, recruiting and other key expenses.
