Join the Fighting Scots Society!
Sports are important to any institution, but here at Monmouth, sports are more than “just a game,” they are a way for Monmouth to set itself apart from other institutions. Our athletes come to Monmouth not because they are awarded a large scholarship to play, but to simply have that chance to continue to successfully compete in a sport that they love. The Fighting Scots Society is a fund that allows donors to specifically give in support of Monmouth College student-athletes and coaches. Your gift to the FSS will support young athletes, as well as, fund travel, uniforms, equipment, training and rehab, recruiting and other key expenses.
Today, nearly 500 Monmouth students are active in varsity athletics, while many more participate in club sports, intramurals and physical activities such as cheerleading and dance squad. Thanks to a strong commitment by the board of trustees and the generosity of major donors, these athletes enjoy training, practice and game facilities that are among the finest in the nation for a Division III college.
If you've followed Monmouth College athletics recently, you know that the varsity track, football, men’s club water polo and women’s basketball teams all have experienced success at the national level. The track teams have two top-three national finishes and our football team has made the NCAA playoffs four times, two as recent as 2005. The men’s club water polo team earned their first NCAA Division III National Club Team Championship in 2012, paving the way for them to begin varsity competition in 2013. Last but not least, the women’s basketball team appeared in the NCAA tournament in 2012, and was ranked nationally for the 2012-2013 season. These accomplishments have played a large role in increasing Monmouth’s national visibility.
Here at MC, we strive to provide the best athletic programs for our student-athletes. Sometimes, though, it takes a little help to make that a reality. Your support does make a difference, our student-athletes do not have to worry about fundraising and can concentrate on the things that make Monmouth College special, such as holding a competitive GPA, helping new students with their transition to Monmouth, or play leading roles in community activities.
In a world full of competitiveness, it is important to remember we play sports first because we love to and second to fulfill our competitive nature. With the generous support of alumni and friends, MC is able to maintain top-notch programs. We pride ourselves by operating our programs with fair play, good sportsmanship, and integrity.
