The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Monmouth College seeks a full-time two-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology beginning in August 2024. The department offers a combined major in Sociology/Anthropology and a Sociology/Anthropology major with a Concentration in Human Services.
Candidates should have teaching experience and be able to teach Criminology; Methods of Social Research; Social Problems; Introduction to Sociology; and a topical course in their area of expertise. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester.
A PhD in sociology is preferred for this position, but ABD will be considered. Monmouth College seeks applications for a two-year, assistant/associate level Social Foundations position in Preservice Teacher Education within the Department of Educational Studies beginning August 2024. Educational Studies works with the Monmouth College students within its elementary and secondary licensure programs, Educational Studies (non-licensure) major and minor, and MC Core Curriculum.
Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate candidate courses within the preservice teacher education program and the educational studies major/minor. Applicants must possess comprehensive knowledge of elementary & secondary level pedagogy, committed to excellence in teaching, and willing to collaborate with the community and area schools to form productive relationships. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Educational Foundations (educational psychology, history and philosophy of education, educational theories, and human growth and development).
Faculty teach three courses per semester and advise undergraduate students. The successful applicant must demonstrate strong potential for excellent teaching, service in a liberal arts college setting, and academic scholarship.
Preferred candidates possess a Ph.D./Ed.D; ABD or M.A. in Teacher Education, or other closely related field will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants who are qualified to teach in multiple content areas and have at least 3 years of full-time teaching experience in K-12 or equivalent classroom settings.

Monmouth College, a selective, private, residential liberal arts college in Illinois invites applications for an open-rank faculty position in Engineering beginning in August 2024. This is a non-tenure-track, visiting, full-time position open to candidates who have earned at minimum an MS degree in engineering. The initial contract will be for two years with renewal dependent upon satisfactory evaluation.
In keeping with our liberal arts mission, we seek to educate engineers broadly, producing engineering graduates who are outstanding technical problem solvers, who understand culture and context, and who can communicate their ideas clearly. The ideal candidate will be able to teach core mechanical and/or electrical engineering courses and elective courses in their area of specialty. Working in the Department of Physics and Engineering, the new faculty member will help build an ABET-accredited program offering a B.S.E. with emphases in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Our new professor must have a deep interest in teaching and will continue to develop professionally in ways that support undergraduate students. We are particularly interested in increasing participation and success in engineering by underrepresented groups. Teaching and/or industry experience is a plus.

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science offers majors and minors in computer science and mathematics and a minor in data science. A full teaching load at Monmouth College averages three courses per semester with two semesters per academic year; the successful candidate should expect half or more of this load to be courses in statistics. POSITION DESCRIPTION/CLASSIFICATION: Temporary Summer Work
INITIAL SCHEDULE: Initial work hours are tentatively scheduled to be 40 hours per week, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with 1/2 hour off for meal, Monday-Friday May 20-August 9, 2024 (Note: Work schedule is and will remain subject to change).
OTHER: Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Grounds work: Mowing, weeding & weed eating, trash cleanup, mulching, trimming.
Custodial work: General room and restroom cleaning, dusting, moving furniture, vacuuming/floor care, trash removal.
General maintenance: Painting, changing filters, cleaning HVAC units, changing lightbulbs, replacing screens, assisting trades, etc. In addition to having ability and qualifications to perform above tasks in a satisfactory manner, successful candidate must be able to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals in a public, multi-tasked, service-oriented environment. High school diploma, valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are also required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Work with current students, parents and alumni organizations that assist with the recruitment of students.

- Counsel students and families of admission requirements, process guidelines, financial aid and scholarship information, residence life, athletics, fine arts, etc.
- Provide continual follow-up to students and parents via phone, text message, letters, email, and scheduled appointments.
- Complete regular reports related to recruitment, projections, personal schedule, travel, special programs, and professional development.
